Boulder Block App — ClimbersGift

1. Introduction

AlturaWorks LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Boulder Block App (the "App"), the official companion application for the Boulder Block physical training product by ClimbersGift. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our App.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account registration details: name, email address, and password (or authentication token if you sign in with Apple or Google)
  • Profile information you choose to add, such as a display name or profile photo
  • User-generated content: custom routes you create, names and difficulty ratings you assign to routes, comments you post, and video content you upload of yourself using the Boulder Block
  • Age verification information collected at sign-up to confirm eligibility (users must be 13 years of age or older)
  • Communications you send to us, including support requests

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
  • Usage data: features accessed, routes viewed or attempted, session duration, and in-app interactions
  • Log data: IP address, access times, pages viewed, and app crashes or errors
  • Push notification preferences and interaction data

2.3 Information from Third-Party Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive limited profile information from those providers (such as your name and email address) in accordance with their respective privacy policies. We do not receive your Apple or Google account passwords.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Provide, operate, and improve the App and its features
  • Display your routes and video sends to the community (as per your sharing settings)
  • Send push notifications related to App activity, such as likes, comments on your routes, and replies — and, where you have consented, occasional promotional notifications about ClimbersGift products and offers
  • Respond to your support requests and communications
  • Monitor and analyse usage patterns to improve the App experience
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. User-Generated Content

The App allows you to create and publish climbing routes, upload video sends, and post comments. Content you publish is visible to other users of the App. Please do not include personal information in your routes, videos, or comments that you would not want other users to see.

You retain ownership of content you create. However, by uploading content to the App — including video sends — you grant AlturaWorks LLC and its affiliates (including ClimbersGift) a broad licence to use that content beyond the App itself. This includes use for marketing, advertising, social media, and other promotional purposes related to the ClimbersGift brand and Boulder Block product, across any platform or channel, without further notice, consent, or compensation.

Full details of this licence are set out in our Terms of Service (Section 5.1), which you agree to upon creating an account. If you do not wish your uploaded content to be used for marketing purposes, you should not upload video content to the App.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates our Terms of Service or community guidelines.

5. Video Content Storage

Videos you upload to the App are stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We may use third-party cloud storage and content delivery providers, which may include services such as Amazon Web Services, Google Firebase, or similar industry-standard providers. These providers are contractually required to maintain the security and confidentiality of your data.

6. Push Notifications

We may send you push notifications for the following purposes:

  • Activity notifications: someone liked your route, commented on your send, or followed your profile
  • App updates or new feature announcements
  • Promotional notifications about ClimbersGift products, offers, or events (only where you have given consent)

You can manage your notification preferences at any time through your device settings or within the App. Disabling promotional notifications will not affect activity notifications unless you disable all notifications.

7. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: with trusted third-party providers who assist in operating the App (cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting), subject to confidentiality obligations
  • Legal requirements: where required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Protection of rights: to protect the rights, property, or safety of AlturaWorks LLC, our users, or the public
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where your information may be transferred as part of the transaction (we will notify you of any such change)

We may use third-party analytics tools to understand how the App is used. These tools may collect anonymised or aggregated usage data. We will update this policy if specific analytics providers are implemented.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We require all users to verify their age upon sign-up and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 are permitted to use the App, however we encourage parents and guardians to supervise their use of community and content-sharing features.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from within the App settings. Following a deletion request, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Certain anonymised or aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes after account deletion.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Portability: request your data in a portable format
  • Objection: object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing
  • Withdrawal of consent: withdraw consent for processing based on consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at team@climbersgift.com. We will respond within 30 days. Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

11. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International Data Transfers

AlturaWorks LLC is based in the United States. By using the App, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

13. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites, including climbersgift.com. This Privacy Policy applies only to the App. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites and encourage you to review their policies before providing any personal information.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy at https://climbersgift.com/boulder-block-app/privacy-policy and, where appropriate, via push notification or in-app notice. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
