Look for screws around every hold
The twelve holds on an official Boulder Block™ are separate resin pieces bolted to the body, which is what lets you unscrew them and rebuild the block into a different route. A single molded piece with holds shaped into it is a different product, however similar the photograph looks.

Check whether a route deck is included
The block is the equipment; the 32 routes are the game. A listing that shows only the block, with no deck and no mention of levels, is selling the object without the thing that makes anyone pick it up twice.

Check who is actually selling it
The tell is a marketplace listing, not an unfamiliar web address. Boulder Block™ is Climber's Gift's own product and we sell it directly. If you are buying through a third-party marketplace account rather than from us, you are buying from someone else, with their returns policy and their idea of what the holds should be made of.

Why is the Boulder Block so much cheaper on Amazon or Temu?
Because those listings are usually a different product with a similar shape. The recurring difference our own customers report is the holds: ours are screw-on resin, the cheaper versions are molded plastic. Several buyers have told us they bought a copy first, believing it was ours, and described it as slippery. The price gap is real and so is the reason for it.
Who makes the original Boulder Block?
Climber's Gift. We designed it, we sell it directly, and Boulder Block™ is our brand name for it — the trademark application is currently in process. Similar blocks listed elsewhere under the same words are other people's products, not earlier or official versions of ours.
What is actually in the box?
The block, twelve resin holds with the Allen key to fit them, and the route deck covering 32 routes across four levels from Yellow to Purple. It arrives gift-ready with no prices inside.
What is the return policy, and will I be charged customs?
Sixty days. If it never gets picked up, send it back. Duties are pre-paid, so the price you see at checkout is the price you pay and nothing arrives at your door asking for more.
Is it worth the price over a cheaper version?
That depends on whether you want the object or the habit. A cheaper block gives you the shape. The routes, the levels and the holds that unscrew are what make people play it more than once, and the whole reason it costs more to make is that those parts are real.
